Thiago Alves is now a coach at American Top Team.

Alves told MMA Fighting recently that he agreed to the move after his April bout with Patrick Cote. “Pitbull” is scheduled to meet Mike Perry next month at UFC Fight Night 116.

“After my last fight, Dan (Lambert) asked me is I wanted to start helping the new generation of ATT fighters, and I accepted it,” Alves said. “I live close to the gym and I’m here every day for 14 years, so it made sense.”

Alves returned to the welterweight division after a failed run at 155, defeating Cote via decision.
