Claudia Gadelha turned what was supposed to be a close battle between top contenders into a quick win Saturday at UFC 212, submitting Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

After losses to Joanna Jedrzejczyk via decision, Gadelha made a change in her training. She employed the power coaches at Jackson-Wink MMA in New Mexico to get her prepared for this fight.

“I’ve been saying all week, I’ve changed. I had eight hard weeks training away from my family,” she said. “But I had to become the new Claudia. I felt like I needed attention. A coach and training partners. I challenged myself. And that’s what I did. The new Claudia is coming. I want to become the person to beat Joanna.”

It remains to be seen if Gadelha will get a third shot at the champion next, or if another contender to be scheduled to meet Jedrzejczyk.
