Darrion Caldwell avenged his lone pro defeat Saturday night in the main event of Bellator 167, earning a decision over Joe Taimanglo.
Caldwell controlled Taimanglo this time around, not letting him gain an advantage in sweeping the scorecards. With the win, he earned a future title shot against bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas, who defended his title Friday night over Joe Warren.
After the fight with Taimanglo, the 10-1 Caldwell said to Dantas, “I look forward to fighting you. It’s been a long time coming” as the two squared off inside the cage.
In the co-main event, John Teixeira defeated Justin Lawrence via decision.
