Following a one-sided win over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197, Jon Jones was left feeling empty.
And Daniel Cormier knows why.
Cormier called the match that saw Jones become interim light heavyweight champion and position himself for a unification bout with “DC” later this year. But, as a heavy favorite, “Bones” was never able to finish OSP.
“He got the win,” said Cormier, on the FS1 post-fight show. “But I’m really disappointed I didn’t fight against him. There’s no way that guy could beat me. I think he did the best he could.
“Ovince did a great job. He showed Jones some things he hasn’t seen before. There will be some questions when Jon gets back home on Monday. I want nothing more than to fight Jon Jones.”
If all goes well at the doctor on Monday, Cormier is expected to resume training. His only loss came to Jones last year for the belt.
