Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux will square off later this month for the interim UFC light heavyweight title, officials announced over the weekend.

UFC 197 takes place April 23 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Reigning UFC champion Daniel Cormier was forced out of the planned rematch with Jones after suffering a foot injury. Officials moved to keep Jones on the card, pairing him with Saint Preux to crown an interim champion.

Jones (21-1) was stripped of the title last year after a legal issue. He was sidelined for the remainder of 2015 after the decision.

“Bones” had set a new UFC record with eight successful title defenses after winning the belt, including victories over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Chael Sonnen, Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort.

Saint Preux (19-7) has won seven of his nine UFC bouts, including a 2014 TKO vs. former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. He opened his Octagon run with four consecutive victories before falling via decision to Ryan Bader.

Back-to-back wins vs. Rua and Patrick Cummins set the former University of Tennessee football standout up for a showdown with ex-title contender Glover Teixeira, but he was bested via submission. Saint Preux has since rebounded with a decision over Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante this past February.
