Darrion Caldwell took advantage of the stage presented to him Friday night at Bellator 151, submitting former two-division champion Joe Warren and calling out Bellator bantamweight champion Marcos Galvao.
Caldwell, an ex-NCAA wrestling national champion, improved to 9-0 in his MMA career when he snapped on a rear-naked choke and left Warren out on the canvas. It all started with a perfectly-timed suplex for Caldwell,, who has won three fights now at bantamweight after moving down from featherweight.
“(Expletive) you, Galvao, you’re a (expletive),” Caldwell said in the post-fight interview.
Before Galvao-Caldwell can happen, though, the champion is still expected to defend his belt vs. ex-titleholder Eduardo Dantas.
Fernando Gonzalez scored a co-main event split decision over former Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion Gilbert Smith, while Bubba Jenkins earned a decision vs. Goiti Yamauchi.
