It’s been a long time since Rob Font got to showcase his skills inside the Octagon.

Sunday night, Font finally stepped back into the cage and dominated, earning a second round finish vs. Joey Gomez at UFC Fight Night 81.

“I love Boston,” he said. “Thank you for taking me in.”

Font (12-1) last fought in 2014 when he scored a first round finish vs. George Roop in his debut. He has finished each of his last four opponents overall.

After a back-and-forth first round, Font connected with a left-hook that stunned Gomez. He followed up with several uncontested shots, forcing the ref to step in.

“The UFC jitters are real,” he said. “I knew once I hurt him, I just had to stay on him and go to work.”
