The MMA world once again has Fedor Emelianenko as an active fighter, and following his comeback bout, it looks like the Russian star wants to return to the ring sooner than later.

As you’ve certainly heard and or saw, Emelianenko returned to action on Thursday and quickly dispatched of kickboxer Jaideep Singh. The bout was part of Rizin Fighting Federation’s second ever event, and it took place in Saitama, Japan.

Leading up to the fight, which was Emelianenko’s first since 2012, it was widely reported that the former PRIDE champ had signed a one fight deal with Rizin. While that could be the case, it sounds like “The Last Emperor” plans to fight for the new organization again, and soon.

Following his New Year’s Eve victory, Emelianenko told this (quote via Bloody

“The next fight is scheduled for April,” Emelianenko said. “In my opinion, it will be here in Japan, in cooperation with the company Rizin. Just know that the company is planning a tournament next August and is in talks with Bellator and other organizations. There is another chance of a joint project. For me it would be convenient to enter the ring in April — four months to relax a bit and with new fteam before preparing for the next battle.”

So, this will comes as good news for Fedor fans, in the sense that they won’t have to wait long for him to compete again. Considering he’s 39 years old, it makes sense that Fedor’s looking to keep busy.

If you really, really want to see Fedor fight in the UFC, however, then certainly things aren’t looking good.

If Fedor is returning to Rizin, hopefully the promotion can book an opponent who is a well established fighter in MMA. It’s also interesting to hear that another tournament is on the horizon and that Bellator could be involved.
