One-time UFC title contender Joe Soto will replace Russell Doane and face Michinori Tanaka in January at UFC 195, the promotion confirmed recently.

Set for January 2, the card features Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit for the welterweight title.

Soto (15-4) is a former Bellator titleholder who stepped in on short notice and fought T.J. Dillashaw for the bantamweight title. The 28-year-old suffered a fifth-round KO loss to Dillashaw, and was bested by Anthony Birchak in June.

Tanaka (10-1) suffered his first pro loss to Kyung Ho Kang last year, snapping a 10-fight win streak.
