There was no shortage of people who blasted Jon Jones after he was arrested earlier this year, but recently the former champ reported that Ronda Rousey offered him a helping hand.
Several months ago, Jones made headlines around the MMA world, when he was arrested on hit-and-run charges. The star was stripped of the UFC’s light-heavyweight title, and for a while, no one really knew if Jones would fight again.
Well, since then, Jones reached a plea deal with authorities and has been reinstated by the UFC. “Bones” hadn’t spoken publicly much about the incident, but recently he talk with MMA Fighting.com’s Ariel Helwani. While discussing the fall out from everything that went down, Jones relayed the following about Rousey:
“She texted me quite a few times, man. She even invited me to come and stay at her beach house in California. ‘Jon, you’re going to come back from this. Anything I can do for you, you let me know. If you want to get away, I got a house here and not many people know where it’s at or whatever. It’s your house until you get right.'”
“Stuff like that just shows you, man, this girl is on top of the world right now and she’s sitting here thinking about me at my darkest hour,” Jones added about Rousey. “That’s something that I’ll never forget.”
How about that? Obviously it’s not hard to understand why Jones is a big Rousey supporter. All this aside, it remains to be seen when Jones will take on Daniel Cormier. The rematch hasn’t been booked yet, but it’s expected to take place in early 2016.
Jones decisioned Cormier in their first meeting this past January.
