Holly Holm is a huge underdog heading into her scrap with Ronda Rousey, but the bantamweight has had one of the planet’s best fighters helping her get ready, yes, Mr. Jon Jones.

Holm will face the undefeated champion at UFC 193, which will air here in North America on November 14th. The bout will go down at the massive Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Recently the UFC held a media call to promote the upcoming fight, and during it, Holm was asked about whether Jones has helped her prepare for “Rowdy”. The two are teammates under the Jackson-Winkeljohn banner in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, here is what the decorated boxer had to say:

“Obviously, he’s not going to be sparring with me the way he would with the big heavyweights,” Holm said Thursday on a UFC 193 media conference call. “But we have the same coaches, we have the same team and I love to hear his input, because he’s obviously been able to take what our coaches teach and put it together perfectly. So I love to hear his input on it and he has been very helpful and very instrumental in this fight camp.”

Now some will question how much Jones can really help Holm train for Rousey, considering the vast differences between the two. But as Holm went to relay, Jones has a “very good mind about fighting”, and she said he offered her some valuable insights.

This shouldn’t come as surprise, as while Jones is ridiculously athletic, lengthy and skilled, his fight IQ  is among the best in the sport. This is why he’s the best 205’er on the planet, and many would say the best fighter the sport has ever known.

But, will any of this make a difference, considering Holm’s about to take on the most dominant champ in MMA? Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
