Former UFC title contender Jon Fitch earned himself a shot at the World Series of Fighting welterweight belt with a decision win over Yushin Okami Saturday night in the main event of WSOF 24.

The main card aired live on NBC Sports Network.

Fitch earned the win on all three scorecards, including a pair of clean sweeps over Okami, also a former UFC title-contender. Fitch and Jake Shields will now meet to crown a new welterweight champion after the promotion stripped Rousimar Palhares of the title earlier this year.

In the co-main event, Blagoy Ivanov finished Derrick Mehmen in the second round via strikes to retain the WSOF heavyweight belt. Also, Magomed Bibulatov became the first-ever WSOF flyweight champion with a decision win over Donavon Frelow.

Vinny Magalhaes submitted Matt Hamill in another battle of former UFC fighters with a first round kneebar, while Nick Newell earned a decision vs. Tom Marcellino. Newell, a former WSOF title challenger, announced his retirement following the performance.

On the preliminary card, Rick Glenn knocked Adam Ward out in the second round and Alexandre Almeida scored a future title shot vs. WSOF featherweight champion Lance Palmer with a first round submission of Saul Almeida.

Other prelim winners were Colton Smith, Patrick Walsh, Rex Harris and Bruce Boyington.
