Despite Jose Aldo remaining the UFC featherweight champion ahead of a title unification match, Nova Uniao teammate Renan Barao will still be joining him at 145 pounds.
According to a report out of Brazil by Globo, Barao (33-3) hopes to fight at featherweight before the end of the year.
The former UFC bantamweight champion has dropped two fights to current titleholder T.J. Dillashaw, putting his Octagon mark at 8-2 overall. Prior to his first defeat vs. Dillashaw, Barao had not lost in 10 years.
Ahead of a planned rematch for the belt, Barao passed out and fainted while cutting weight, sending him to the hospital and out of the title fight. He eventually worked his way back to being the No. 1 contender after submitting Mitch Gagnon.
Aldo and McGregor will meet this December at UFC 194.
