Bader took on Rashad Evans on Saturday night, and the Arizona fighter out struck and out wrestled the former champ for the unanimous decision win. The victory was Bader’s fifth in a row, and followed his decision win over former contender Phil Davis in January.
The UFC has already posted it’s latest rankings, and the media members who determine them, have moved Bader into the #3 spot at 205. The heavy handed wrestler was #4 prior to Saturday’s card.
This means the only men who are ahead of Bader are Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Johnson, and the champ, Daniel Cormier. This list does not include Jon Jones, however, who has yet to formally be reinstated by the promotion.
Another interesting development to occur in the rankings, is that Johny Hendricks has dropped two positions, and is now #3 at 170. Hendricks was supposed to fight Tyron Woodley at UFC 192, but had to pull out of the fight due to weight cutting issues. Woodley has moved into the #2 position, and Rory MacDonald is now the #1 contender.
Other big movers included Julianna Pena moving up five spots into the #7 position at 135, and Sergio Pettis cracked the top 15 at flyweight, and is now #15.
Pena decisioned Jessica Eye at the event, and Pettis earned a UD win over Chris Cariaso.
UFC 192 was hosted by Houston, Texas.
