Back when Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley were collegiate wrestlers, the two went head-to-head.
Hendricks, a former UFC welterweight champion, came out on top of that meeting and “Bigg Rigg” plans to do the same Saturday night at UFC 192.
“I won that one. I plan on winning this one. I’m going to get back to what I want: the belt,” he said, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “I have to have that mindset (I am the better wrestler). I won’t give anything to my opponent. I don’t want to say he’s better than me anywhere. I’m better than him in any place.”
Hendricks was pushing for a rematch with current UFC champion Robbie Lawler, but that opportunity went to Carlos Condit instead.
While it initially bothered Hendricks, he has moved on.
“I’m over it,” he said. “Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve got a good opponent in front of me and he’s made me better. I’m excited to face Tyron Woodley.”
