After going almost 25 minutes with Demetrious Johnson earlier this year, Kyoji Horiguchi was handed his first Octagon loss via submission.

Horiguchi rebounded in his native country of Japan Saturday night, claiming a decision over Chico Camus at UFC Fight Night 75.

The heavy favorite, Horiguchi (16-2) moved his UFC mark to 5-1 with three finishes.

“It was good, but I wanted to show everyone a KO victory,” the 24-year-old said. “I am a little disappointed, but still happy.”

Effectively striking with Camus and defending his takedown attempts, Horiguchi almost finished the fight with several flurries. With “Mighty Mouse” sitting Octagon-side, Horiguchi made sure to acknowledge the champion.

“I have a long way to get to a title shot once again,” he said, “but I want to challenge the champion again.”

The win in Japan was the first for Horiguchi since a 2014 TKO over Jon Delos Reyes. He fought his first 12 pro fights in the country, going 11-1 and winning the Shooto bantamweight title.
