Chuck Liddell apparently isn’t a fan of fighters who like to talk smack, but in the case of Conor McGregor, “The Iceman” doesn’t mind…
While McGregor has had plenty of memorable moments in the Octagon, a big reason why “Notorious” has become such a massive star, is because of his persona. Ever since McGregor arrived in the UFC, the featherweight has repeatedly trashed most of the division’s top fighters, including champion, Jose Aldo.
Well, recently Liddell spoke with MMA Junkie.com Radio, and here is some of what the legendary fighter had to say about Mr. McGregor (quotes via MMA Junkie.com):
“Conor, I’m actually really looking forward to that (Jose) Aldo fight,” said Liddell. “I’m a big Aldo fan. I’m not big with the trash-talking, but I do like Conor because he comes out and fights the way he talks.”
“You want to talk like that, and you’re going to back it up by fighting like that? Fine,” Liddell said. “It’s not like Chael (Sonnen), where he talks all that before a fight and then tries to do the lay-and-pray thing. No.”
How about that huh? Liddell taking a verbal jab at “The American Gangster”. While not everyone is a fan of McGregor’s verbal tendencies, he does certainly bring it in the cage. As Liddell also noted in the aforementioned interview, McGregor came out guns blazing against Chad Mendes, even though the latter is a ridiculously talented wrestler.
The interim featherweight champ will battle Aldo on December 12th at UFC 194. If McGregor loses, will he still be as brash and outspoken?
