Felipe Arantes came into Canada and stunned the fans, submitting Yves Jabouin Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 74.
The win moved Arantes’ (17-7-1) Octagon mark to 4-3-1 overall, including two finishes. He has been with the promotion since 2011, but made the move to bantamweight for this fight.
“I was lazy before, I liked eating,” Arantes said. “I had a little shame on my face, but I want to continue in this weight class.”
Arantes was coming off an October decision loss to Andre Fili, and this marked the first time since a 2013 TKO finish of Godofredo Pepey that he ended the contest early.
“I felt very welcomed here,” said Arantes, who owns five career submission wins now. “I am sure I will come back.”
Jabouin (20-11) suffered his second straight loss, having been finished by Arantes’ teammate, Thomas Almeida, this past April.
