More than a few people were left scratching their heads, after Anderson Silva appeared in front of the Nevada Commission recently, and it sounds like Chris Weidman was one of them.

Since it was reported that Silva had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs earlier this year, the legendary fighter has repeatedly said he never knowingly took steroids. But, when Silva and his reps claimed that the failed test was due to a tainted sexual performance medication he had taken, the fighter’s defense quickly came under fire.

Well, at the end of the day, and as most expected, the NSAC handed Silva a one year suspension. Weidman recently appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and the reigning champ was asked to weigh-on Silva’s defense. Here is some of what “The All American” had to say (quotes via MMA

“I watched like a little bit of it and I saw some people (talk about it), so I don’t know all of the facts,” Weidman said. “I don’t want to just starting talking without knowing all of the facts, but I saw some people said that he changed his story like three times. I saw Bas Rutten said that. And my thing is just, everyone is a screw-up. I tweeted this out. But everybody messes up, so people understand that. But people don’t like liars.

“So if you mess up, man, just be honest. People respect that and understand it because everyone messes up. People appreciate honesty. And if you’re changing your story three different times, that doesn’t sound good. Just fess up.”

Now of course,  there are Silva supporters who believe the former champ was relaying truth at the hearing. As it stands right now, however, they appear to be in the minority.

The 40 year-old star returned to the Octagon for the first time since 2013 in January, and worked his way to a UD win over Nick Diaz. That decision has been overturned to a no-contest.

Weidman, meanwhile, is booked to fight Luke Rockhold on December 12th at UFC 194.
