Ovince Saint Preux was emotional before his main event fight at UFC Fight Night 73 vs. Glover Teixeira.

Saint Preux, a former Tennessee Volunteer football standout, walked to the Octagon with “Rocky Top” playing in the background. He even had his mother and father in the arena watching for the first time.

However, OSP wasn’t able to win the fight, as Teixeira scored a third round submission win over him in Knoxville, Tennessee.

“Glover did a great job,” he said. “Fighting in Knoxville, I wanted to put a show on for you people and I think I did a good job.”

Saint Preux, who had won two straight via finish over Patrick Cummins and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, rocked the former title contender with a liver shot, but he was unable to stop the wrestling of Teixeira.

In the third, Teixeira locked up a rear-naked choke. Saint Preux appeared ready to tap, but decided against it.

“He sunk it in deep,” he said. “I told myself he would have to put me to sleep.”
