Anthony Christodoulou vs. Scott Holtzman

We begin the night in the lightweight division, as Anthony Christodoulou (12-5) takes on Scott Holtzman (7-0). “Hot Sauce” will be making his Octagon debut in his hometown of Knoxville and got the crowd on its feet early.

Round 1: Christodoulou comes out stalking Holtzman, backing him down and landing a nice right. He’s loading up with it, but Holtzman shifts and is now the aggressor. Spinning attack to the chest by Hot Sauce connects and he follows up with a swift kick to the side. Left from Holtzman gets through and gets the attention, as Christodoulou ties up and wants the takedown. He’s a former Greek jiu-jitsu champion and has excellent skills on the ground. Elbow by Holtzman from in close, along with a knee to the midsection. He’s picking Christodoulou apart with elbows, strikes and knees. Perfect combos and another spinning attack by Holtzman, who is on his game and seeking a fifth pro finish.

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Holtzman

Round 2: Just pin-point striking from Holtzman, who mixes in a stiff kick to the body. Spinning elbow followed by a straight right from Hot Sauce. It could just be a matter of stringing together a combination now for the Tennessee native. He tries for another spinning elbow and misses, but lands with a 1-2 to the face. Everything that Holtzman connects with is filled with bad intentions. Christodoulou, though, is standing and taking it, firing back with his own strikes as we head under the two minute mark. Christodoulou drops down and grabs a leg, attempting a belly-down leg-lock with just seconds left. He’s unable to get it, but one would have to think Holtzman will avoid the ground from here on out.

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Hotlzman

Round 3: Huge right lands by Holtzman, who has systematically picked Christodoulou apart from the start. Shots to the body and another right land, followed by a left-right combo. Holtzman has almost connected with as many strikes as Christodoulou has thrown so far. Holtzman with a surprising inside-trip, but it allows him to take the back. He’s got both hooks in and three minutes to search for the rear-naked choke finish. He slips it in and this one is all over.

Scott Holtzman def. Anthony Christodoulou via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:40 of Round 3

Roman Salazar vs. Marlon Vera

Bantamweights battle in our next contest with Roman Salazar (9-3) facing off against Marlon Vera (6-2-1).

Round 1: Nice knees landing from Salazar, who tries for a takedown but gets swept and put on his own back. Vera on his back but he’s landing good strikes from there as Salazar tries to advance his position. We could be looking at a stand-up here soon, as neither man has been able to do much on the ground. And there it is by the referee with two minutes left in the opening round. Series of kicks to the head by Vera, but Salazar gets in deep on a double-leg takedown. He switches to the back, peppering Vera with knees to the legs.

FightLine scores the round 10-9 for Salazar

Round 2: Little bit of a scuffle after the bell sounded, as Salazar appeared to push Vera. Back to Salazar working for the takedown right at the start, which he scores with. He transitions to the back after a scramble, switching back to inside the guard. Vera with a tight triangle, unloading with elbows. As Salazar moves, he grabs the arm and gets the quick tap.

Marlon Vera def. Roman Salazar via submission (armbar) at 2:15 of Round 2

Chris Dempsey vs. Jonathan Wilson

We’ll conclude the early Fight Pass prelims with light heavyweights Chris Dempsey (11-2) and Jnathan Wilson (6-0) doing battle.

Round 1: Wilson connects with a left hand early, as Dempsey tries to change levels and score with a takedown. He’s denied and Wilson re-gains control. Wilson knocks him clean out, following up with another shot that appeared to wake Dempsey back up.

Jonathan Wilson def. Chris Dempsey via KO (strike) at :50 of Round 1
