Patrick Cummins earned the biggest win of his career, coming into hostile territory Saturday night at UFC 190 and stopping Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.

After his eighth takedown of the fight in the third round, Cummins unloaded with vicious elbows, earning the finish vs. the former Strikeforce champion.

“I had some adversity to deal with in the first round,” he said. “I got caught a couple times, but the key was to keep focus and keep my head on winning.”

Cummins (8-2), who made his UFC debut on short notice and lost to current champion Daniel Cormier, improved to 4-2 with the promotion. He also lost in April via knockout to Ovince Saint Preux, but holds wins over Antonio Carlos, Jr., Kyle Kingsbury, Roger Narvaez and now Cavalcante.

“I belong in the Top-10,” he said. “I’m ready for a Top-10 opponent next.”

The loss was the second straight for Cavalcante and moved his record to 1-3 with a no-contest in his last five.
