Ilir Latifi made quick work of Hans Stringer Saturday at UFC Fight Night 72, earning a first round knockout in just 56 seconds.

Latifi, who trains with Alexander Gustafsson, caught a leg kick and uncorked a right that floored Stringer. He followed up with another right on the ground and that was all he needed.

“I knew my speed would be my strength,” he said. “I am always fighting with taller guys, so that’s not a problem as I am pretty fast.”

After making his UFC debut on short notice vs. Gegard Mousasi, Latifi (10-4) has won three of his last four. That includes a first round KO vs. Chris Dempsey and a submission in early 2014 vs. Cyrille Diabate.

“I have been working on my stand-up game and everything,” he said. “At this level of the UFC, you have to do everything. You can’t just wrestle.

“You have ot give a good fight for the fans.”

With the victory, Latifi stated his desire to “get into the Top-10,” adding “I can take anybody there.”
