Costas Philippou has decided to end his MMA career, UFC senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler confirmed on Twitter recently.

Philippou’s name was removed from the UFC middleweight rankings, and Sholler replied to a post that he has “indicated to the UFC that he has retired.”

The 35-year-old won just once in his last four fights, knocking out Lorenz Larkin last year. He suffered a decision defeat to Gegard Mousasi this past May, losing also to Luke Rockhold and Francis Carmont.

From 2011-12, Philippou carved out a five-fight win streak that included finishes of Tim Boetsch and Jared Hamman. He went 6-4 overall inside the Octagon, fighting his other nine fights for Ring of Combat.
