On the heels of a finish vs. Lyoto Machida, Yoel Romero finds himself on the cusp of contending for the UFC middleweight title.

Romero, who bested Machida recently, climbed over both the former champion and Vitor Belfort in the latest UFC rankings. He sits third behind champion Chris Weidman, Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

The rankings were also adjusted in the lightweight division after Gilbert Melendez tested positive for a banned substance and was suspended for a year. Nate Diaz moved back in, while several fighters were pushed up a spot.
