Jessica Penne is a former champion and has won two in a row, advancing to the semifinals of The Ultimate Fighter last year.

Now, Penne will challenge for the UFC strawweight title this Saturday night against champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC Fight Night 69 from Germany.

Penne (12-2) scored a split decision over Randa Markos in December and is 5-1 in her last six, losing only to Michelle Waterson in 2013 via armbar.

“I’m one of the most well-rounded fighters in the division,” said Penne, during a recent interview on UFC Tonight. “I have a lot more tools than she does. She’s a good striker. She’s a tough opponent, but so am I.”

Jedrzejczyk won the title when he battered Carla Esparza. On TUF, Penne was ousted from the competition by Esparza, a close friend, who went on to win the inaugural 115-pound title.

“I feel like Carla was defeated before she got in the cage,” Penne said. “She didn’t show up the way she usually does. Joanna played a lot of head games and it worked to her advantage.”
