Omari Akhmedov beat on the lead leg of Brian Ebersole through the opening round of their bout at UFC Fight Night 68.

And, despite putting forth a strong poker face, Ebersole told the doctor he could no longer continue after the first round, giving Akhmedov the win.

Akhmedov (15-2) admitted he was hoping to go to the distance for a second straight time inside the Octagon, but he’ll still take the win.

“I wanted to test myself the full three rounds,” he said. “But I kick him, something hurt and it just happened.”

The Lak-Dagestani fighter improved to 3-1 inside the Octagon, with his lone loss coming to Gunnar Nelson. He defeated Mats Nilsson earlier this year and started his UFC career with a knockout of Thiago Perpetuo.

“That was my homework (kicking the lead leg),” he said. “We prepared for that, to work on the leg, and it worked.”
