Nate Diaz has been involved in several notable rivalries over the years, which is why the outspoken fighter is a pretty good guy to go to, in terms of discussing beefs…
While there’s no shortage of notable squabbles these days, including the one between Diaz and Anthony Pettis, the biggest is arguably the rivalry between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. During the UFC 189 World Championship Tour, the featherweights repeatedly made headlines by getting in each others faces and swapping verbal shots.
The biggest incident, however, was likely when McGregor snatched the belt from the champ at an event in Dublin. The video footage of the move quickly blew up the internet.
Well, recently Diaz spoke to “The MMA Hour”, and while discussing McGregor’s antics at that event, he stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“[Aldo’s] team is f**king up,” Diaz said. “Because let me tell you something: if I had Conor fighting somebody like that, and they were going to make sure one of the guys gets up in your face, you smack his ass to the floor. You know what I’m saying? You don’t let somebody do that. Or just laugh at him. Like, [Aldo] got all bent out of shape when the guy took his belt. He should’ve just laughed at him, been like, ‘Keep the belt. This ain’t about the belt. It’s about your ass whooping.’ I would’ve let him have it. Take that home and put it on…”
That’s some interesting advice no? Although really, we all know that if Aldo had slapped McGregor, MMA critics would be having a field day (if that matters…).
All this aside, recently the UFC announced that Diaz will fight Matt Brown at UFC 189, which is the same night Aldo and McGregor will scrap. The event will take place on July 11th in Las Vegas.
