Welcome to FightLine’s live coverage of UFC Fight Night 63: Mendes vs. Lamas.

Today’s card comes to us from the Patriot Center on the George Mason University campus in Norfolk, Virginia.

All 10 bouts air live on FOX Sports 1, and we’ll have complete play-by-play coverage of all the action.

In the main event, former featherweight title contenders Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas square off in a five-round battle. Also, Jorge Masvidal and Al Iaquinta meet in the co-main event, along with Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke, Julianna Pena vs. Milana Dudieva, Clay Guida vs. Robbie Peralta and Dustin Poirier vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira.

On the prelims, a pair of former title contenders are set for action, with Liz Carmouche tackling Lauren Murphy and Gray Maynard facing Alexander Yavovlev.


Ron Stallings vs. Justin Jones

We begin the action in the middleweight division, as Justin Jones (3-1) battles Ron Stallings (12-7).

Round 1: Jones comes right out after Stallings and is pressing the action. They clinch against the fence, and Jones begins imposing his will. Stallings with another body kick and he’s hurt him. Jones is stuck against the fence and Stallings is going all-in. Several of the big shots, though, are being blocked and he’s also showing excellent countering. All of a sudden, Jones has survived and he scores a takedown. Stallings secures a quick guillotine from his back, but Jones is able to slip out.

Round 2: Cut has opened under the eye of Stallings, in the same area where Uriah Hall opened him up. Stallings doing a much better job with his striking, still looking for the same body kick that he landed in the first. Jones attempting to turn this into a brawl, but the superior skills and experience of Stallings will not allow for it.

Round 3: Stallings is keeping this one on the feet, as Jones continues to work for a takedown. However, he’s just not able to do it. Jones’ offense is just a split-second too slow, and he can’t close the distance on Stallings. Jones tries to bait him in, but it doesn’t work. This one goes to the scorecards.

Shamil Abdurahimov vs. Timothy Johnson

Heavyweights hit the Octagon for our next encounter, as Shamil Abdurahimov (14-3) takes on Timothy Johnson (8-1).

Round 1: As one has come to expect with the big boys, they go toe-to-toe right from the opening bell. Johnson gains the upper hand, flooring Abdurakhimov and pouncing. Johnson with a takedown after a lot of clinch work from both men and he quickly gains the mount. He’s beating away on him and the ref has seen enough.
