Felice Herrig sees nothing but destruction happening when she steps inside the Octagon at UFC on FOX 15 later this year to take on Paige VanZant.
A competitor on The Ultimate Fighter, Herrig (10-5) scored a victory in her official UFC appearance when she submitted Lisa Ellis this past December. She’s now won five of her last six, losing only to Tecia Torres via decision.
VanZant (4-1) turns 21 soon, which made her ineligible for TUF. Instead, she signed a contract directly with the UFC and won her debut in November by finishing Kailin Curran.
“I’m going to knock her out in round one or round two,” said Herrig, during a recent appearance on Submission Radio. “I don’t see this fight going all the way, and I definitely see it being stopped. Whether it’s by the ref, or the doctor or – I don’t even know if her corner is allowed to throw in the towel anymore – but it’s not going 15 minutes I will tell you that.”
Herrig’s fought the who’s who of the female MMA world, including Torres, former UFC champion Carla Esparza and current Invicta FC champion Barb Honchak.
“I think the only thing predictable about me is that I can beat her anywhere the fight goes,” said Herrig, in response to comments made by VanZant. “I know I’m a better striker than her, I know I’m a better wrestler than her, I know I’m better on the ground than her, I know I’m physically stronger.
“I really don’t believe she’s better than me anywhere.”
