Godofredo Pepey picked up his third straight first round finish inside the Octagon Saturday night, stopping Andre Fili at UFC Fight Night 62.
Pepey locked up the triangle choke from guard after a takedown by Fili, proceeding to keep the move secured for an extended period of time before the Team Alpha Male fighter finally tapped.
“I never give up in that submission,” he said. “I am very happy with this win; happy with the submission.”
It was the eighth career submission win for the Brazilian who also stopped Dashon Johnson and Noad Lahat last year in Brazil inside of the first round.
“I want to fight a well-ranked fighter next,” he said. “But I will fight anyone.”
Pepey (12-3) is 4-3 over seven Octagon appearances, while Fili (14-3) is 1-2 in his last three.
