Johny Hendricks found out first-hand what it tastes like to be the best in the world.

And after a split decision loss to Robbie Lawler cost him that feeling, “Bigg Rigg” is ready to get it back.

Hendricks dominated fellow top contender Matt Brown at UFC 185 Saturday night, earning his 17th career win and keeping his spot in the 170-pound division.

Hendricks admitted he made mistakes leading up to his December title defense vs. Lawler. So he re-focused on the basics and got his weight under control, coming in right on-point and showcasing all of his skills.

“It was a good fight, but I just can’t figure it out,” Hendricks said. “I started strong, I just can’t finish. I have to go back to the drawing board.

“I felt like I had him in the first round, second round; I just didn’t do it. I’m going to figure it out. I want perfect.”

The former Oklahoma State University national champion is now 12-3 over his UFC career, losing only to Lawler, Georges St-Pierre and Rick Story – all via decision. He connected on seven of eight takedown attempts vs. “The Immortal.”

For Brown, the loss was a second straight, as he was also defeated by Lawler his last time out.
