Ray Borg made sure to lay claim to being a future contender in the UFC’s flyweight division Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 60, locking up a submission on Chris Kelades.

Borg (8-1), who trains out of the FIT NHB in New Mexico, scored his second straight win via submission after earning a June rear-naked choke vs. Shane Howell. His only loss was at the hands of Dustin Ortiz via split decision.

“It felt really good,” he said. “Sorry it wasn’t as exciting as I like it to be. I wanted to showcase my striking.”

Borg, nicknamed the “Tazmexican Devil,” has stopped five of his opponent with rear-naked chokes, adding a TKO and decision win to his resume.

“This was my first arm-lock submission ever in my career,” he said. “The rear-naked choke just comes naturally to me.”

With the 125-pound division always in need of contenders, Borg said he is up for “whoever will move me forward (next).”
