The 2015, MMA campaign has gotten off to such an amazing, and yet, troubling start at the same time. Sure, January featured several, must see bouts, but the all-star match-ups have been followed by drug scandals.

First, came word that Jon Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites heading into UFC 181, and now the sport has truly been rocked by the news that Anderson Silva has allegedly tested positive for steroids.

Well, recently UFC welterweight champ Robbie Lawler spoke with MMA¬†about the scandals, and after he noted he was “bummed” by the news, he added (quote via Toronto Sun):

“People make mistakes, but it was definitely a black eye for the sport,” said Lawler. “Hopefully the commission, the UFC, and all the fighters, can help clean up the sport.”

Lawler has yet to be booked for his next bout, following his title cinching, split decision win over Johny Hendricks in December.

The 32 year-old fighter went 3-1 during his busy, 2014 year and has elected to take a little time off before defending the welterweight belt.
