It looks like some of the comments Phil Davis has made about Jon Jones has gotten under his skin, as following “Mr. Wonderful’s” loss on Saturday, the UFC light-heavyweight champ took a bit of a verbal jab at the fighter.
Davis ended up losing by split decision to Ryan Bader at UFC on FOX 14, and the defeat comes not long after the decorated wrestler said he’d be able to take Jones down, “and keep him down.” If you watched the scrap with Bader, then you know that Davis’s vaunted wrestling game was pretty much shut down by “Darth”.
Well, following the bout, the following tweet appeared on Jones’ Twitter feed:
Wonderful? I think it's time for a new nickname
— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) January 25, 2015
Now, if you’re surprised by the tweet, you shouldn’t be. Not only has Jones tweeted shots at his rivals and or potential opponents in the past, Davis has made other comments about the champ in recent months.
Davis aside, Jones will now turn his attention to Anthony Johnson, who took out Alexander Gustafsson in the opening round of the main event.
UFC on FOX 14 was hosted by the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
