According to multiple reports, bantamweight contenders Urijah Faber and Raphael Assuncao will collide this March in Brazil at UFC Fight Night 62.
The bout has yet to be confirmed by UFC officials, but once it is, the two will fight for a second time in Rio de Janeiro on March 21 from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium. Back in 2010, Faber scored a third round submission victory over Assuncao in the WEC.
Faber (32-7) is coming off back-to-back wins via submission over Francisco Rivera and Alex Caceres. In his last eight fights, “The California Kid” has lost only to Renan Barao.
Assuncao (23-4) has won his last seven, but injuries and timing have kept him from competing for the UFC bantamweight title. Last October, he topped Bryan Caraway, and the Brazilian also holds a win over current champion T.J. Dillashaw.
One bout was confirmed for the event, as Josh Thomson takes on Gilbert Burns.
Thomson (20-7) has dropped his last two after positioning himself as the No. 1 contender to the UFC lightweight title. Last July, he dropped a split decision to Bobby Green.
Burns (9-0) sports an unbeaten record, winning his last fight via submission over Christos Giagos.
