Herb Dean is widely regarded to be one of the best refs in all of MMA, and Dana White has repeatedly praised him in the past, but the UFC boss man wasn’t thrilled with his performance on Saturday.

Dean oversaw the Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier headliner at UFC 182, and while most of the fight provided plenty of action, things dramatically slowed down in round five.

Speaking to FOX Sports’ Ariel Helwani after the event, here is what White had to say about the main event and Dean (quote via Bloody Elbow.com):

“Herb Dean, I always talk about him; I think he’s my favorite referee. He did a horrible job in the fifth round,” White said. “He let them clinch, literally for five minutes, but other than that, it was an amazing fight.”

Jones went on to win the scrap via unanimous decision, and in doing so, the light-heavyweight champ extended his record reign to 8 title defenses. Jones’ overall record now stands at 20-1 and Cormier’s sits at 15-1.
