Carlos Condit is hoping to book his next fight soon, and when the welterweight contender returns to the Octagon, he’s hoping to face his old foe, Nick Diaz.
The 30 year-old Condit hasn’t fought now since March, when he tore his ACL and injured his meniscus, during his TKO loss to Tyron Woodley. Recently “The Natural Born Killer” told Albuquerque’s KRQE News that his recovering is going well, and that he wants to sign his next bout.
And, while discussing who he would like to fight, Condit stated:
“Nick Diaz is back in the picture, and I was thinking about maybe after he fights Anderson Silva, getting that shot at him. Doing a rematch and kind of settling the score.”
Diaz will throw down with Anderson Silva on January 31st at UFC 183, which will mark the first time he’s fought since March, 2013, when he was decisioned by Georges St-Pierre.
Condit and Diaz fought for the interim title in February, 2012, and Condit scored a unanimous decision win in the extremely competitive fight.
So, could Diaz-Condit II happen? Maybe, but don’t bet the farm on it happening just yet.
