UFC Bantamweight Division Loses Another Contender

Just hours after No. 1 UFC bantamweight contender Dominick Cruz announced that he will spend much of 2015 on the sidelines with a knee injury, Raphael Assuncao has joined him.

Assuncao, who was passed over for T.J. Dillashaw earlier this year due to an injury, sent out a message on Twitter that he suffered a broken ankle in training and will also be shelved.

The Brazilian (23-4) has won seven of eight inside the Octagon, including a win over current champion T.J. Dillashaw.

More bad news as I would have thought he had to be next in line vs TJ since Cruz was out.

Ouch broken ankle, not good. For one thatll take FOREVER to heal, and two I broke the small bone on the left side of my left foot once (shattered it in 6 different pieces) and it still isn’t really healed and it was almost 3 yrs ago now. Feet/ankles/knees just don’t heal that well, because they have to constantly carry your entire weight
