The seventh annual World MMA Awards will take place Friday, January 30 from The Venetian in Las Vegas.
Put on by Fighters Only Magazine, the awards are voted on by fans starting December 22 via WorldMMAAwards.com. A total of 22 categories will be voted upon, including those honoring the Fighter of the Year, Fight of the Year and Knockout of the Year.
For the first time, the awards reflect a full calendar year, meaning everything accomplished from January 1 to December 20 will count.
“Seven years ago, Fighters Only launched the ‘World MMA Awards’ as a way to honor fighters, fights, personalities and promotions and to celebrate this modern day sports phenomenon called mixed martial arts,” said Rob Hewitt, President and CEO of Fighters Only. “This year we return to The Venetian Theatre and the ‘Fight Capital of the World’ Friday, January 30, for another star-studded, black-tie event dedicated to MMA and all the incredible fans of our sport.”
Chris Weidman won Fighter of the Year last year, while Ronda Rousey was Female Fighter of the Year.
