Although Henry Cejudo has fought in the UFC just once, and is still a relative newcomer to MMA, there’s a fair amount of buzz tied to “The Messenger” following his win over Dustin Kimura.

After all, not only did Cejudo showcase some pretty nice hands during the UD win at UFC on FOX 13, but he’s an Olympic Gold Medalist in freestyle wrestling. So, yeah, that’s usually the kind of stuff that gets people talking.

Following Cejudo’s victory he relayed his plans to drop down from bantamweight to flyweight, and added he believes he can be a “huge force” at 125.

So what does the current flyweight king, Demetrious Johnson think about Cejudo? And his desire to make a run in the weight class? Well, while speaking to MMA recently, here is some of what Johnson had to say about Cejudo, and his wrestling record:

“Whether he’s an Olympic gold medalist or not, I don’t worry about it and if it happens it happens,” Johnson said. “You look at Ronda Rousey and when she fought (Olympic medalist) Sara McMann and whooped her. I don’t want to say that fight took the division to a whole new level. I think it’s the fact Ronda Rousey is very popular and her skillset and how average she makes opponents look.”

Of course, being an Olympic Gold Medalist doesn’t guarantee championship success in MMA, as the latter includes many different disciplines. That said, it sure doesn’t hurt. It should also be noted taht Rousey did win an Olympic Bronze Medal in Judo.

Cejudo clearly has a ways to go before he’s in title contention, and right now, it remains to be seen who Johnson will fight next. The ridiculously, well rounded fighter also had this to say about his next bout.

“They said (I’ll fight) possibly in April,” Johnson said. “I try not to pay attention to (who I’ll fight). When you go by rankings, it should be Joseph Benavidez, but we’ve fought twice. In my eyes, you’ve got to beat the No. 1 dog to be the No. 1 dog, but that’s not going to happen for a lot of people.”

Johnson is coming off a second round, submission win over Chris Cariaso in September, and has won 7 straight.
