Alistair Overeem has shared the cage with both Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt, so he is a strong source when it comes to discussing the upcoming UFC 180 main event.

Werdum and Hunt will meet for the interim heavyweight title from Mexico City. Overeem, meanwhile, fights this December at UFC on FOX 13 vs. Stefan Struve.

During a recent appearance on Submission Radio, “The Reem” was asked to give his thoughts on the title fight. The winner is likely to face Cain Velasquez sometime in 2015 to crown the undisputed champion.

“At the heavyweight division, it can go either way,” he said. “Hunt is an exceptional fighter, but Fabricio has been showing great skill in his last several fights.

“I give Fabricio a slight advantage, but Hunt is no easy (fight). I fought him back in 2008. He’s the strongest guy I’ve ever fought. If you get hit (by Hunt), you’ve got a problem. It’s going to be an exciting match up.”

Overeem topped Werdum in 2011 when they meet in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, scoring a decision. His win over Hunt was a submission victory while the two were in DREAM together.

FightLine will have complete coverage all week for UFC 180, including live play-by-play Saturday night.
