Alistair Overeem has delivered his fair-share of knockout blows.

So, when Ben Rothwell caught the former Strikeforce champion with one earlier this year, Overeem tipped his hat and made plans to quickly erase the sting of defeat.

Overeem will return to the Octagon this December at UFC on FOX 13 against Stefan Struve. He recently talked about the loss to Rothwell and a number of other subjects with Submission Radio out of Australia.

“Getting caught is part of the game,” Overeem said. “It’s the X-factor that exists. I’ve been fortunate to never really have been caught before like this and I’ve had like 75 fights by now. Considering that, bad luck happened.

“In the sport you need a bit of luck on your side and Ben had it in our last fight. The luck was on his side.”

Overeem (37-14) has had trouble since joining the UFC in 2011, going just 2-3 overall during that span. He’s been stopped by Travis Browne and Antonio Silva, while he earned a victory over Brock Lesnar in his debut. Overeem’s other win came vs. Frank Mir in 2014.

After seeing those five bouts spread out over the course of three years, “The Reem” is pleased to be getting right back into action.
