Another former UFC fighter has landed in Bellator MMA, as officials announced Nam Phan vs. Mike Richman for November’s Bellator 131 card.
Set for November 15 from the Valley View Casino Center, the main card airs on Spike TV featuring Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar in the headline fight. Also, Will Brooks and Michael Chandler meet for the vacant lightweight title.
Phan (20-13) was released by the UFC after three straight losses earlier this year, but has rebounded with a pair of finishes since. He is an alum of The Ultimate Fighter.
“I’m very excited to be part of the new Bellator with Scott Coker and the rest of the team,” Phan said. “This is an opportunity to fight on a huge stage once again and I’m so happy to be able to fight in front of all my friends, family and supporters in California.”
Richman (17-5) snapped his own two-fight losing skid with a finish of Ed West this past September. He is 3-3 overall in his last six.
“This is a fight that is going to kick off this stacked show with a bang,” Richman said. “Fans can expect two talented punchers staying in the pocket looking for the finish. I plan on seeing a bunch of Marines in attendance cheering loud, and just like we do in the Marine Corps, I’m going to locate, close width, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver.”
Below is the current lineup:
Light Heavyweight: Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar
Vacant Bellator Lightweight Championship
Michael Chandler vs. Will Brooks
Light Heavyweight: Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. Tom DeBlass
Middleweight: Melvin Manhoef vs. Joe Schilling
