Dan Henderson is all for a bout with Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. But, “Hendo” sees a different time and different weight class for the contest.
Recently, one of Souza’s trainers stated a possible match between the former champions for February and a light heavyweight. Souza is expected to be cleared following a second elbow surgery for that time of year.
Henderson, though, wants to fight on the January 3 event that features Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier – and he wants to do it at middleweight.
“I would be more then happy to give Jacare what he wants,” Henderson posted on Twitter. “Except I would do it at MW and Jan 3rd,” adding the hashtag “careful what you wish for.”
Henderson (30-12) last fought in May, falling to Cormier via submission late in the third round. He is just 1-4 in his last five fights overall. Souza (21-3) has won each of his four UFC bouts, including a recent submission vs. Gegard Mousasi to likely cement his standing as the next 185-pound contender.
