Joe Lauzon will be the one stepping in for the injured Norman Parke and fighting Diego Sanchez next month at UFC 180.

While Conor McGregor was pushing for the opportunity, officials instead decided to tab Lauzon for the November 15 card from Arena Mexico in Mexico City. The main event features Cain Velasquez defending his heavyweight title against Fabricio Werdum.

Lauzon (24-9) is coming off a second straight victory, having stopped Michael Chiesa earlier this year. The 30-year-old is 3-3 in his last six and owns 13 fight-night bonuses in his UFC career.

Sanchez (25-7) is a former Ultimate Fighter winner like Chiesa. He has posted a 14-7 record inside the Octagon.
