May didn’t work out for Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic, but December might do the trick.
According to a report on “UFC Tonight” recently, the former UFC heavyweight champion and Miocic are rumored for a meeting at UFC on FOX 13 later this year. The event takes place December 13 from Phoenix and the U.S. Airways Center. Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Stefan Struve were recently added to the event.
Dos Santos (16-3) has been out of action since a 2013 loss to Cain Velasquez for the UFC heavyweight championship. Both of “Cigano’s” Octagon defeats have come at the hands of Velasquez, as he is 10-2 in his UFC career overall.
Miocic (12-1) remained on that May card from Brazil and defeated Fabio Maldonado in a matter of moments. He is 6-1 with the promotion, losing only to Struve, with three straight wins since the defeat.
It was also reported on the program that Matt Mitrione is interested in facing Andrei Arlovski, who is coming off a knockout win over Antonio Silva. Ben Rothwell, who recently finished Alistair Overeem, is also rumored as a possible opponent for dos Santos, Miocic or Arlovski.
