Featherweights will compete in the UFC 179 main event, and two more will compete somewhere else on the card, as officials announced Darren Elkins vs. Lucas Martins recently.

Set for October 25 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the card features a main event between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes for the 145-pound title. Phil Davis-Glover Teixeira is set for the co-main that night from the Maracanazinho Gymnasium.

Elkins (17-3) has won seven of 10 Octagon bouts, but is just 1-2 in his last three. He suffered a pair of losses to Mendes and Jeremy Stephens after stringing together a five-fight win streak.

Martins (15-1) has won three of his four UFC bouts, including three in a row. He has stopped Jeremy Larsen, Junior Hernandez and Alex White, falling only to lightweight Edson Barboza in his debut.
