A previously reported bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Jimi Manuwa is now official.
The two will main event UFC Fight Night 56 on November 8 from Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Rua (22-9) is just 1-3 in his last four fights overall, including a March TKO loss to Dan Henderson. He finished James Te Huna to close out 2013 after defeats at the hands of Chael Sonnen and Alexander Gustafsson.
The Brazilian won the UFC light heavyweight title in 2010 when he knocked out Lyoto Machida, but lost it in his first defense in 2011 to Jon Jones.
Manuwa (14-1) suffered his first career loss to Gustafsson this past March, falling via TKO. He had won three straight – all via TKO – inside the Octagon prior to the defeat.
Below is the current lineup for the night:
Light Heavyweight: Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Jimi Manuwa
Light Heavyweight: Ovince St. Preux vs. Rafael Cavalcante
Flyweight: John Lineker vs. Ian McCall
