UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will make history soon by gracing the cover of Wheaties. The announcement was made recently.

“This is huge for the sport,” Pettis wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone who voted. December 6th I will silence the critics.”

Pettis earned the cover of the popular cereal in an online vote. He’ll fight this December against Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181. The two will also be the coaches on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter that airs this month on FOX Sports 1.

“Congrats to champ Anthony Pettis for his new Wheaties deal & for being the 1st UFC fighter to be on the Wheaties box,” UFC president Dana White wrote on Twitter.

Pettis has not fought since defeating Benson Henderson last year for the title with a first round submission victory.
